My father likes to quote an old Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times". We live in the most interesting times, perhaps the most interesting times in history. The web has allowed us to access this information. There is a Jewish Midrash that says that when G-d created the first man, Adam HaRishon, He was able to see from one end of the world to the other. Perhaps before the advent of television this was inconceivable. Now with the internet, it's true for all of us.
