The JFK Assassination - The Security Detail Finally speaks out!

Clint Hill and Jerry Blaine, former U.S. Secret Service agents assigned to protect President John F. Kennedy, are now telling their story about that fateful day 47 years ago in Dallas. Clint Hill is the agent who sprinted to the car and tried to jump over and cover the president. To this day he has guilty feelings for not taking a bullet for the president.

These humble men, are in fact heroes and although they have suffered post traumatic stress disorder, nightmares and a feeling of failure, they need to recognize that they did everything they could have done. To say that if he would have reacted earlier by two seconds, he may have saved the president, is not a fair comment (even coming from themselves). It was destined that JFK would die that day - G-d had willed it to happen and nothing any person could have done would have saved him. What Hill and Blaine need to realize is that that they did their duty - they ran to cover the president, and they did protect the first lady and president from further bullets. They are heroes because they put their lives on the line in a time of stress and did what they trained to do. Our mission in life is to do our best. If we have done our best then we have fulfilled our obligation. Its a pity they never had proper counselling in those days which would have helped them through that difficult period and the subsequent guilt feelings.

In the confusion that day, Blaine came close to shooting the newly sworn in president Johnson. In an unexpected turn of events the president came out to get some fresh air. Blaine thought this was an intruder and raised his gun with his finger on the trigger. When he saw the president, (and saw President Johnson turn white) he lowered his gun. This is another proof of the impressive character of these people. After being awake for 40 hours straight, and under the tremendous pressure of that day, he still did not pull the trigger in error. Security people have needed to make quick decisions under pressure and many have killed the wrong people by mistake.

A newly detailed account of the assassination is written up in a new book called "The Kennedy Detail", by former agent Jerry Blaine. It's written with journalist Lisa McCubbin, and based on interviews with many of the agents who protected Kennedy. Former agent Hill, has rarely granted interviews about the shooting, but did write a foreword to this book. CNN has an interesting interview with Blaine and Hill - see below:-

Chinese Piano Maestro plays with his feet?

China's got talent found a piano maestro who plays with his feet!!! As a young boy he lost his arms in a bizarre accident where he touched some high tension wires. After almost giving up, he was found by a gentleman, with the same handicap, who came to help him live again. He loved music and decided to try to learn the piano - no one would teach him, reasoning that even someone with arms has it hard enough, and who would look at someone playing with his feet. He told them, you will live to regret your decision, and so it is. He is moving to the final and people are brought to tears by his achievements and beautiful piano music.
It goes to show - sometimes people are more disabled before their accidents than after - afterwards they really have meaning in their life and live life to the full having much greater and more positive lives. Check this out!

Whats with Jupiter losing it's stripe

You may have heard the story of the Zebra who lost his stripes, but planet Jupiter losing it's stripes??? In a development that has transformed the appearance of the solar system's largest planet, one of Jupiter's two main cloud belts has completely disappeared. According to planetary scientist Glenn Orton of NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab "We're monitoring the situation closely and do not yet fully understand what's going on." Known to astronomers as the  South Equatorial Belt (SEB), the brown stripe/band is 2 times the size of Earth at it's width and more than twenty times as long. This has changed the look of Jupiter as the stripe could be seen across half the solar system. Even with binoculars the stripe is noticeable and to those in the know Jupiter's signature appearance has always included two broad equatorial belts. For more information check this LINK.

What is Matza (Jewish bread)?

It's coming up for the Jewish Festival of Passover (Pesach), which is celebrated by Jews worldwide as a remembrance to their exodus from slavery in Egypt. The Matzo or 'Jewish Bread' was baked and eaten in haste i.e. quickly- as they were driven out of Egypt by the nation that had suffered 10 plagues, the last being the death of the firstborn at the hand of G-d at midnight. They had no time to bake bread an therefore baked an unleavened bread which could be finished quickly - some say the dough was baked by the sun as they exited in the scorching heat, although it's clear that they did in fact keep the Passover that year and had no leaven anyhow. They had eaten the pascal lamb the night before the exodus together with the Matzo. This is stated in the Bible (beginning of Exodus) which commands Jews to eat no leavened bread i.e. bread baked with yeast or leavening agents (e.g. baking powder) during the week of Passover
Over the centuries many nations who didn't understand the Jewish customs, and their differences from the local population, persecuted the Jews and many, out of hate for this G-d fearing nation - portrayed them as evil people and there were many terrible 'blood libels'. The blood libel was a false rumor circulated saying that the Jews used human blood from non-Jewish children to make the matzos. These rumors were often circulated by evil people who themselves had abused and killed Christian children and used the Jews as the cover for their violent crimes. Jews are forbidden to eat or drink any blood and therefore to even entertain the idea that Jews would use blood in the Passover bread was preposterous to the extreme.
For those who have never heard of, or don't know how Matzo is made - here is a humorous video clip on the subject. Note Matzo has exactly 2 ingredients - flour and water.

Ever wondered how coconuts are picked off those high trees? Here is an interesting video on how they pick coconuts in India. A report by the times says the country grows 16 billion of them a year, according to the country’s Coconut Development Board. However, a falling birthrate and rising school attendance in Kerala, the most prodigious of the coconut-producing states, has led to a lack of small boys willing to shimmy up the towering palm trees on which the crop grows. Young men, meanwhile, are opting for safer, less arduous and more prestigious professions.

So pressing is the problem that the ministry of industry in Kerala is offering a cash prize of one million rupees (£12,500) — more than a professional coconut harvester can earn in a decade — to whoever invents the first machine capable of doing the job.

Such is the scarcity of skilled harvesters that those left in the trade are enjoying a boom in business. Pay rates have tripled, according to T. Balakrishnan, the principal secretary for industries in Kerala. That means a harvester can earn about 300 rupees (£3.75) a day.

Regenerating the body

There have been amazing developments with the growing of human tissue and organs which are will surely help people with severe injuries. It should help prolong life, as well as create better quality of life for many people. At this time the technology is being used on a person to person basis i.e. the organs are grown for a specific patient with their own tissue. In time it will become mass produced and tailored with the genetic signature being added to the grown tissue just before transplantation. This as opposed to having to use the tissue from the patient to actually grow the tissue and organs. The doctors are already able  for example, to take a hand harvested from a cadaver and thereafter transplant it onto someone who has lost their hand. This is achieved by injecting genetic material from the patient into the cadaver's hand to prevent rejection.

A good friend of mine has a company in Israel which gets blood sent from people with genetic illnesses. In Israel, they change the DNA or genetic makeup of the blood sample, by inserting new genetic code in the laboratory. It is then sent back to the doctors who then re-inject the blood and the patients body accepts the new genetic signature, thereby curing the patient. The blood is not rejected because its the patients own blood. This type of procedure is being done for US patients in the Dominique Republic because it is not currently certified by the FDA. This hold up great hope for Diabetics and other chronic illnesses that are genetically based.

One of my first posts was how a friend of mine found himself in a sticky situation when following the directions from his GPS. It doesn't always pay to follow your satellite navigation of mobile phone GPS as the following video clip proves.



Reminds me of the following clip from the James Bond Movie "Tomorrow Never Dies" about using devices to aid driving. As far as I remember the last line of the video which is missing from this clip (but I may be mistaken) is "Thank you for using AVIS"

North Korea - what a weird country

When you watch this video you will be struck with sadness for the poor people of this country, but will be unable to stop laughing at the absurdity of the situation. North Korea is a country built on idol-worship of the country's late Eternal President Kim Il-sung. Although he died in 1994 he is still considered the supreme leader with his son Kim Jong-il son of Kim Il-sung, the current secretary of the KWP Central Committee Secretariat and leader of the armed forces. The county is officially named the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), but is anything but democratic. I think it's worthwhile to watch this video which will keep you enthralled, just to see that such places do actually exist in the world. The only reason that I can see that G-d allows this country to exist is so that we can realize that we should be thankful for the society we live in today. Another reason is to show what it must have been like in ancient Egypt where no slave ever escaped, and yet G-d took the Jewish nation out of that hell-hole. It was a miracle that has never been repeated. Anyhow - here are the videos:-
